In the heart of Menlo Park, just to the west of downtown, is Central Menlo. With Valparaiso Avenue to the north, Arbor Street to the east, and the Creek to the south, this beautiful neighborhood is perfect for young couples, families, and seniors alike. In fact, residents are so loyal to Central Menlo, that even when upsizing, they endeavor to remain in the neighborhood.
Mid-century ranchers populate the area, sitting on a quarter acre lot or more. On the more expansive lots, one will find newly constructed multi-story homes as well. In recent times, and because the lot size allows for it, there’s been a surge in home construction and renovation in Central Menlo adding to its architectural diversity while still maintaining it’s original charm and character. Residents enjoy clean, tree-lined streets perfect for an evening stroll or family bike ride. And no one can deny Central Menlo’s great sense of community. Neighbors frequently get together for social events at the school, church, or at each other’s homes. Parents are involved in their kids’ schools as well. Oak Knoll is the elementary school for Central Menlo and has outstanding API scores of around 925. Hillsview Middle School also has impressive API scores while Menlo Atherton High falls slightly behind. Nonetheless, it is still a reputable school.
Many of Silicon’s finest find themselves living here and due to the area’s affluence, Central Menlo has become the most exclusive and expensive neighborhood in Menlo Park. As such, the demand for homes is ever increasing and buyers often have to pay over the original asking price.
But, with its spaciousness, great natural features like the San Francisquito Creek, and easy access to Interstate 280 and Highway 101, residents remain inclined towards Central Menlo.
